Two weeks in Snow after return from India

28 12 2008

You know — all we know when anyone visit India ( hometown ) after few years in foreign country you get all attention, best food at home and at lorry/restaurants and colors in life with plenty of events.  Your life become amazing, eventful, resourceful, stress free, foody and top of that with your family friends adds their company in it.

Life becomes dynamic to static — I say 1000% more dynamic than life in USA in terms of events. I keep reading acronym now in most of online retailer sites “What’s shaking?” and they show item which is getting sold out with high percentage.  When you go to India after few years — you are shacking with 10000% or more and that too for fun and upon your return to USA you are shaking 1% only at home.  Hard to believe and feel left alone. This time it is in -100% at home too.  Why?

It would have 1%  ( normal ) if Chini would have with me but no she wasn’t with me.  She choose to stay there longer than me so lucky girl, and she is.

I returned after so many events in my life ( visited Karnataka, forest camping, marraige, Rajasthan trip, camelride, social get togethers ) in USA and the day I landed in Seattle, snow was waiting for me to give company. Usually weather in Seattle is rainy but this time it was waiting for me to come and show how good snowfall is. I like snow fall and miss sometime when hear more about east-coast snowfall — but this time it has changed all calculations.

The day I landed I thought — I will have two weeks now until Chini joins me and have post marraige bachelor time with Amish Patel whose wife is also visiting India. But when you think beyond your imagination then nature gives you answer. And, nature was in support of her —  I have two weeks and snow was falling upto two weeks — can’t go outside, drive car, play games and visit dear ones.

It was falling like anything and inch by inch — day by day — it piled 28″ and no life except be at home. I can’t drive, go out, meet friends, no pizza delivery and NO CHINI 😦 at home.  I think I felt more about snow due to her absence.

You can imagine transition from eventful life to no event life.  You can’t even go out. I celebrated white Xmas by myself in snow at home with lots of TV shows.

Bottomline we had extreme snow here in Seattle, WA since I landed ( Dec 14, 2008) and just stopped falling day before Chini is returning — so without Chini my life has no colors and luck. My pizza craving will get over once she will join me as Pizza hut it going to start delivering to comunity :).

Pray to god – no more snowfall for time being.  I had it enough.

Believe in Family

26 12 2008

Read below line — not one time many times … and keep reading until your brain completely gets in it.

Always cherish and love your family. They will always be your true friends. – Steve Wong.

This is a statement from my good friend Steve Wong.  He just doesn’t say for saying – he believes in it and proved it in his 30s. He is youngest chap (Asian) in his family and married to nice wife Heidi (American), have two kids. Asians are more like Indian in beliefs and believe in family values – He has high values for his family so clear vision too. He doesn’t have high values for his family due to he got rich, popular and/or got smooth life from his parent – they had to move from Cambodia to USA during Cambodian Civil War, struggled lot in America and raise their children in USA. You can imagine how hard his childhood must be.  Recently his elder brother Tom got diagnosed with both kidney failures. It was on initial phase and going for dialysis every week. It becomes routine for Tom to go to dialysis twice a week, it is painful process. Doctor recommended to have replacement and that the only option for him to have little normal life than painful life. In USA, it is a 3-5 years wait to get donar unless Tom seek it from foriegn country. Tom was seriously thinking to get replacement as he got baby recently and wanted to play sports with him and who doesn’t. He was okay on dialysis though and could have waited 2-3 years easily for donor. However, Steve Wong as younger brother and family member simply thought why his brother has to even wait for 2-3 years and get pain when he can donate right away. He determined himself and went for checkup at hospital to make it sure he is candidate as donar. And, he got +ve results too. No matter of time — he gave dream to Tom to have him in normal life so he can play with his kids. It is easy to talk about philosophy but when times come it is extremely hard to perform.

I just learnt yesterday that Steve Wong undergone for surgery and gave his kidney to Tom. Both Steve & Tom are doing well.  And, all this happens in short time frame due to Steve not only wanted to give Tom his life but do not wanted him to fall in depression due to ongoing painful dialysis process.  He made it – they made it — family made it. They all have celebrated Xmas together. He quoated above statement in his Xmas gift photo album and distributed to all family members with their childhood fun photographs.

He believes in his family so his values are way up than usual person thinks.  I salute him for this great help to his family — same time  equal credit goes to Heidi too to think broadly and let him allow what he wanted to do for his family. Steve himself has his own family and in his 30s – it is not easy to give up kidney at his age. Believe me; it is extremely hard when times come to you.

I admire him for doing it for his family members and his statement too.

Always cherish and love your family. They will always be your true friends. – Steve Wong.

Steve is hero ( not saying but performer ) for his family.

I wish Steve & Tom both get well soon from this surgery and play pickleball together with their kids.

I will keep this in mind always and pray to god to give me courage/strength like Steve so when time comes for my family I am there.

Google Saree

18 06 2008

I was surfing around and found out Satya Paul known designer has made an attempt to use “Google” fame in his inspiration.  I bet all techy will surely like it, but at the same time technology nerd are see Google and will try to search what?

See what I think in picture below which I altered.

Technology nerd will start searching their name

  • on her bottom part of saree to find out who else got sandals on his chick?
  • on her palav ( back side of saree ) to find out whom she didn’t respond but allow him to flirt — There is a hope of his turn
  • in google text to find out whether she liked him or not? — I am feeling lucky feature of Google.

Wah re Wah, Satya Paul — You innovative idea is really great.
